Japan’s obsession for robots has resulted in a company to come up with a robot for handling funerals.
The bot is called Pepper’ and can be programmed for various tasks. Nissei Eco Co designed ‘Pepper’ reads scriptures at Buddhist funerals, help with various tasks in temples, chant sutras, and tap drums. It can even live stream the ceremony.
Priests are expensive in Japan, and cost around £1,700. Funerals can be over £20,000.
At £350 per funeral, Pepper is a cheaper alternative for sending your loved ones to eternal sleep.Pepper hasn’t performed any funerals yet, but with robots creeping everywhere, who knows?
